"Local Heros Cafe", 11x14 watercolor by Stevie Denny

This is my entry for the Street View Paintoff for January.  The location this month is Florida, and I wanted to paint something other than an ocean scene.  The rule is that we can choose any image that appears on Google's Street View Map.  I thought of St. Augustine, since it's the oldest city in the United States.  I had a great time taking a virtual tour of St. Augustine, and while cruising down one of the streets I found the Local Heroes Cafe (the sign is misspelled, so I kept it true to the image).  I'm very fond of clapboard / Craftsman-style  houses, and the blue color made it really stand out.  However, I did give it a bit of a facelift -- I added the tile patio, the potted flowers and plants, and I also added a sky that reminds me of Florida.  I borrowed the picnic table and umbrella from one that was on the right side of the Street View image.  It seems like a nice place to relax on a warm afternoon!
