"Chamisa", 3x6 mixed media painting by Stevie Denny
Today I did a small watercolor study in my notebook from a photo I took a few years ago. My sister-in-law Michele and I took a road trip to Santa Fe, and on the way back we drove through the Painted Desert. The Chamisa was in bloom, and I loved the bright yellow color against the multi-colored desert landscape. My watercolor painting didn't seem to have enough color, so I added pastels and this is the result.
