BECKY JOY colorado landscape and stream painting

Mountain Jewel 10x8 oil   Click here to buy.

Yay! Another good day of painting. I started in the closet with the primer, then the final coat of paint in the closet. After lunch it was in the studio where I painted this 10x8. I used several photos to compose this painting. I wanted the group of trees to be the predominately dark shape in the scene.

I used a cad red underpainting on this one. It was basically a cool scene with the greens and the mountains. I thought the red under coat would warm the scene up. By scratching out the grass and along the shore in a few places the cad red  shows through helping to warm it up.

I have just booked a 3 day plein air workshop in Prescott, AZ for $150. on July 11, 12 and 13 from 9 to 4 pm.  The class will be based at my friend Marla's ranch. There are lots of interesting things to paint in the high desert in this area. It should be fun. Go to my website for more info.

I just put out my newsletter for May, a little late, but hey, it's out. If you want to subscribe, do so at

Well, tomorrow will be sheetrock taping on the second closet.
Talk to ya all later,
Becky Joy
