Sunset to Zion

"Sunset To Zion"
Oil on Belgian Linen
12" H X 16" W
$575

A view as one approaches Zion National Park from the West.  While none of this view is actually of the Park, I have loved this view in the late afternoon over the years.  Last July I stood along the dirt road in 100 degree afternoon sun and did a plein air study, which I used for this studio piece.

Desert Dawn

"Desert Dawn"
Oil on Belgian Linen
12" X 16"
$575

As the day dawns the desert is very, very quiet.  The light quickly spreads across the desert.  There is a fleeting moment when the colors are rich and vibrant.  This is a favorite time on the desert and the air is morning cool.

This piece is from a recent month long painting trip and is a combination of a couple of plein air pieces based on some farmland in Cache Valley, Utah.  I became quite intrigued with the patterns and the nostalgia of farm country while on this trip.

Stepping Sontes

"Stepping Stones"
Oil on Linen, 9" X 12" $325

Remember those summer days, playing along the stream, jumping from rock to rock?  While I painted this scene those were the memories that returned to me.  Hopefully this painting will remind you of those times, and great times they were.

"Standing Alone"
Oil on Canvas, 8"X10"  $275

I explore the Sonoran desert almost everyday.  The textures and the way the light plays across the desert landscape amazes me.  Here I was intrigued by the vertical saguaro and the way the light played across the rocks in a horizontal fashion.

To see my art work please visit Gallery 225 in Gilbert, AZ. and The Gallery Store at the Mesa Arts Center, Mesa, AZ.

"Morning Light"
Oil on Linen, 11" X 14"  $500

I first painted this as a 'plein air' piece from a trip to Colorado in the early Fall.  The light coming through the trees and bouncing off the rocks and the tree trunks intrigued me, and provided a great spot to paint.

I have thought about this painting for quite some time.  While modified from the original plain air piece, the bright foliage of Fall still shines.  A mix of sage, meadow, ponderosa and the bright colors of Fall.

A Grand View

"A Grand View"
Oil, 9" X 12" $375

One can sit at the edge of the Grand Canyon for hours, enjoying the silence, nature, and the immense quiet.    Moment after moment the Canyon changes.  The sheer size is staggering.  In this piece I have presented the ruggedness, the depth, and a glimpse of the enormity of this wonder.  Can you hear the quiet?
