"Serenity," Beach Landscape by Amy Whitehouse

Oil, 6"x6" $95

This quiet beach scene was painted on location
in Florida during my art retreat.
The feathery clouds, the soft waves,
the delicate colors,
all contribute to a serene respite
from life's challenges.
I'm already looking forward to my next retreat.

Sunset Landscape, "Fernandina Sunset," by Amy Whitehouse

Pastel, 9" x 12" $175

I'm so enjoying painting with pastels.
This scene can be anywhere,
but for the sake of a title,
I named it Fernandina Sunset.
End of day has a certain
beautiful melancholy to it.

Contemporary Watercolor Beach Scene, "Late Afternoon," by Amy Whitehouse

Watercolor, approximately 6"x12" $175

So many colors are found in the sand and sky in the late afternoon
at the beach.
Sometimes the artist just pushes the color she sees a little bit,
and magic happens.

Beach Walk, Beach and Ocean Paintings by Amy Whitehouse

Oil, 6" x 6" $95

Currently I'm on my five-week painting retreat
at a private beach in Florida.
I'm painting daily and collecting photos
for studio work in the coming year.

The sea oats are a protected plant here,
and their waving in the breeze mesmerizes and soothes.

Thunderstorm, Beach and Ocean Paintings by Arizona Artist Amy Whitehouse

Oil, 11" x 14" $500

This latest work was completed two days ago.
It's one of my favorites from this past year.
I used a very large brush to lay in the composition and
large areas of color, then refined it with a medium-sized brush.
The thickest areas of Brilliant White oil paint were applied
primarily with a palette knife.
The beach and ocean provide endless interpretations,
expressions, feelings, and art opportunities all-around.

Florida Palms, Contemporary Landscape Paintings by Arizona Artist Amy Whitehouse

3" x 5" Oil, $95 + $5 shipping

Just back from a lovely vacation at Crescent Beach, Florida.
Naps, seafood, reading, walking on the gorgeous beach...
all heavenly!
I relaxed and rested and hardly did any art.

Now I'm motivated to dig back in to my art supplies,
and see what happens.
I also signed a contract today with a local school
to teach art this coming year.
That begins in August.  A new adventure.

This little contemporary landscape reminds me of the air
in Florida following an afternoon shower ~

Green Skies, Contemporary Seascape Paintings by Arizona Artist Amy Whitehouse

12" x 16" Oil, $175

This painting has lots and lots of texture.
As I've said before, I love a green sky.
Maybe Vincent was my introduction to a green sky,
who knows?
This scene is reminiscent of my favorite
growing-up  vacation memories
at Atlantic Beach, Florida.

Florida Beach, Beach and Ocean Paintings by Arizona Artist Amy Whitehouse

16" x 20" Oil ~ $600

This painting was inspired by a photograph my English teacher, Karen Kelly Becker,
posted, from Ponte Vedra Beach.
I love it when the sand is lightly covered with water and the sky's reflection is something you can
step on, and enjoy the spongy sand underneath.

Powdery sand in the dunes, and
