Moonlit night and hill oil painting by BECKY JOY

MOONLIGHT 6x6 oil on canvas is available for $110.

To purchase this painting go to my blog.

Today besides painting this little one I finished the painting that I painted on my Ustream show on Tuesday. I made some changes that I didn't feel were working. I needed to darken the foreground field, I moved the sunlight up a little higher and just refined and finished the painting. I have this painting posted on my website, www.beckyjoy.com

I've also started another painting that I am reworking. I should have it done tomorrow. It seems that every six months or so I look back on some of my paintings and want to change some things about them. I try to convince myself that that is good, but it sure would be easier just to move on.

Fall colors on the road oil painting by BECKY JOY

AFTERNOON ROAD, a 6x6 oil on canvas and board, varnished and ready to frame or display on the black wrought iron easel that I will send to you with the painting. Click here to buy this painting.

The photo of this painting is from a trip to Colorado. One of the photos taken while you are driving. I posted the original photo that I used to give you an idea of what I worked from. The composition is pretty much like the photo, but the color and lighting is entirely different. I often change the lighting or mood from what I actually see. You can see that I did simplify things from the photo.

Today I finished a larger painting from one of my studies. Although, looking at it in the last 5 minutes I see a little more work in the sky. I also played with ustream today. I recorded and deleted and recorded and deleted. I think I got the idea. Now I need to figure out the chat stuff so that I can talk to the audience when they ask me questions. One thing I was worried about was my voice being loud enough. I'm soft-spoken, but it did come in loud and clear. Yay!! Anyway, I should be broadcasting anytime now.

Talk to you all tomorrow.

Field and Barn oil painting by BECKY JOY

This 6x6 oil on board is Farm Field. The painting is for sale on my website at www.beckyjoy.com. With the purchase of this painting, you will receive a small black wrought iron display easel. The painting is finished on the edges of the board and varnished. With the easel you have the choice of framing it or displaying it on the easel.

I used both the palette knife and the brush on this painting. You can see more texture as you move into the foreground. This gives the painting more space and depth which I think is especially important in a scene like this with the distant trees and mountains.

Even though it is Sunday, I got a lot of painting done today. I started the day with a good game of bowling and a good day of painting. It was one of those days that things were coming together. Last week I felt pretty inept at painting. Oh well, sometimes it isn't easy.

I should have a productive day of painting tomorrow. No plans other than painting. :)!!!!
