Bulldog Rocks, 3x4 tiny oil painting by Stevie Denny

Bulldog Rocks
3x4 oil painting
on stretched canvas

Bulldog Rocks are in the Salt River wilderness area, just a few miles from where I live in Mesa, Arizona. People come from all over the world to see these giant rocks that look over the Salt River, especially when the late afternoon sun turns them to gold. The best place to view them is from a place called Water Users, off the Bush Highway (Water Users refers to the place where people put in kayaks and tubes on the Salt River). This is a TINY painting -- just 3x4 inches, but a cute little thing. It's not framed, and I don't recommend framing due to its small size. It would best be displayed on a small display easel, which I will happily provide for free to the buyer of this painting.

This painting is available through an online auction at Daily Paintworks.

Red Mountain Sunset, 6x8 oil painting by Stevie Denny

Red Mountain Sunset
6x8 oil painting on Raymar canvas panel

I live at a place called Red Mountain in Mesa, Arizona.  We are right next to the Tonto National Forest and the Salt River Recreation area.  I painted this from a photo I took along the Salt River, as the sun was setting against Red Mountain.

Sunset on the Salt River, oil painting by Stevie Denny

Sunset on the Salt River
9x12 oil painting on archival panel

I painted this from a photo I took along the Salt River north of Mesa, Arizona, in the Tonto National Forest.  This location was in the Phon D. Sutton rec area.  I've been to this area many times in the early morning and late afternoon to paint and take photos.  This past week I went there in the morning, and as I was hiking down to the river, a mountain lion crossed the path in front of me.  He was close (less than 25 feet), and I'm very lucky he wasn't interested in me.  This is one of the most beautiful spots on the river, but I won't go there again by myself.  It was frightening.  Mountain lions have been spotted in that area for the past few years, but this was the first time I've seen one.  I hope it's the last.

This painting is available for purchase through an online auction.

superstitions

The superstition Mountains east of Phoenix, I often go out there to paint. This is one the plein air paintings with the warm colors and blue skies of the southwest. The dark saguaro cactus contrasts against the light background rocks giving the painting depth and atmosphere
