Swimming, Abstract Contemporary Paintings by Amy Whitehouse

6" x 6" Acrylic on Paper, $65

It's been a LOOOOOONG time since I posted.

My new job as Art teacher to 260 students, grades K-2 and 6-8,
has kept me rather occupied. I love it (most of the time), and
am so energized by the creativity and originality these young
people produce in their artwork.

Little by little, I'm getting into the groove, figuring out how
to manage it all, and start to have time for my own artwork.

This is a monoprint I did last week.  Just a reminder:
a monoprint is a one-of-a-kind original painting
that is done via a printing method rather than
a direct painting method. There are no other copies or
"prints" of this painting, just this one.

LMK if interested in purchasing.

This abstract original acrylic painting can be

a printing plate,
but unlike the common usage of "print"
this is a one time original piece.
Hence MONO print.
It is produced with a printing method,
but cannot be replicated
(unless the owner wishes to make
a copy of the painting.

Ocean Dip, Contemporary Abstract Landscape Monoprints by Arizona Artist Amy Whitehouse

6" x 6" Monoprint, $65

Driving home from teaching painting classes all day
in 108 degree heat
all I could think of was "water"/"ocean"/"coolness"
hence these three blue-green watery monoprints.

Incoming Boogie
6" x 6" Monoprint, $65

Desert Mirage
6" x 6" Monoprint, $65

Each of these monoprints has a clean 1" - 3" border
or can be matted right up to the image.
Each one is the only one that will be produced,
hence the name "monoprint."

If interested in purchasing any one of these prints,

Azo Afternoon, Contemporary Landscape Monoprints by Arizona Artist Amy Whitehouse

6" x 6" Monoprint, $65

The sun has been glaring and burning the past few days
here in the Valley of the Sun.
Dogs and plants and humans are drooping.
But for painting?  Inspiring.
The tiny bit of turquoise may be suggesting
a caught kite from windy days previous.
Though a traditional subject,
the treatment with pronounced texture
is quite contemporary.
And gold metallic paint brings palpable light to the scene.

It has been a challenge just getting in my studio these past
few days,
but I'm always happy once I finally can paint.
This luscious cupcake was painted with pure pigment oil sticks,
which is why the colors are so vibrant.  No fillers
diffusing the color.

Abstracted Palm Trees, Contemporary Landscape with Palm Trees Paintings by Arizona Artist Amy Whitehouse

6" x 8," Oil on Canvas Panel, $150
Palm Trees fascinate me with their beauty and form.
The frond, the trunk, the movement from breezes or strong winds - all enthralling.
I am constantly comparing palm trees as I drive around
during the week, and of course when I travel to other locales.
In this painting I was searching for a balanced and interesting design
while abstracting the palm trees, reducing the form to its
basic elements.

Painterly Art-Fly, Baby Fly-by Li Mahalik

Oil on Gallery Canvas, 48"x48"

*****

Don't tie me down, love
I've taken a few trips over

There in my sleep
No greener grass, no sunset
And not a soul

Serenity is all encompassing in the deep
Blue

Silently. I have to fly
Over the mountain
Mountain of your love

Only there and then
We can become
Just one

©Li Mahalik

This is a commissioned painting I did a few weeks back, so it's sold. A painting of this size is quite awesome in itself and the possibilities are many. A few strokes can change the composition dramatically. So, it was a matter of when to stop. I met the challenge and I think I did okay.

I hope you like the poem I wrote for the painting also.

To see my other paintings, please visit my blog, or my web site. Thank you!

HOLY GROUND by Pat Stacy

HOLY GROUND
by Scottsdale Artist
PAT STACY
HOLY GROUND
36" x 36" x 1.5 "
Acrylic on Canvas
I was here in this place on Oct. 4, 2001, at 4:00 AM. It was dark,
very dark, except for the gray, gray dust that was everywhere and
that had the stench of death. The lone policeman stood watch at the
barricades that separated "the pile" from the rest of the area. Workers
sifted the remains 24/7, finding bodies and body parts. This is indeed
Holy Ground, santified by the blood of 3000 innocents who went to
their death on 9/11/2001. The Entity, silent and unseen, stands watch
and observes as the humans mourn and take care of their dead and
broken possessions. There are many images I saw at that time,
but this is the one that has stayed with me more than the others.
The painting is for sale--$1300.00. For more information, please
contact Pat Stacy at pastacy@cox.net or 602-290-3009.
