I did this little painting from a photo while taking a class with Dick Heichberger, a well-known local landscape artist. When I started painting on this panel, I noticed that the grain of the wood really shows, but it's still a nice painting.

I loved the variety of colors in this scene, the warm violets contrasting with the bright yellow greens. The sunlight filtered through the grasses creating shadows on the water. This is a plein air painting from Flagstaff, AZ

Painted in Colorado near Vail. I was attracted to the clear water and seeing bottom of the lake and reflections. It's nice how the reddish muddy bottom contrasts with the greens of the surrounding banks.
