Red Rock Sunset, 6x8 oil painting by Stevie Denny

During the past year I've taken a few classes from Dick Heichberger, a master landscape painter.  He really focuses on the use of transparent color, and that "less is more".  I painted this in one of his classes from a photo I had taken in Sedona.

Cathedral Rocks Sunset

"Cathedral Sunset"
Oil on Belgian Linen
12" X 24"
$980

The red rocks of Sedona are one of a kind.  This piece is from several field studies which were painted on sight looking at Cathedral Rock.  Just before sunset the setting sun puts the rocks into a fiery orange/red glow for just a few moments.

FANTASY IN THE RED ROCKS

FANTASY IN THE RED ROCKS
By Scottdale Artist
PAT STACY
FANTASY IN THE RED ROCKS
40" x 30" x 1.5" Acrylic on Canvas
$1200.00
This painting was driven by my fantasy and fun.
It started with a heavily textured canvas and the urge
to paint something bright blue. After I had a bright
blue canvas, I got the notion that I wanted to
paint Sedona colors, but with my fantasy, not
reality. The night scene has much energy in the sky
2 shades of copper and whispers of white and interference
circles. The ground under the trees has stamping for
additional texture, with copper swirls. The entity
observes the energies in the heavens and on the earth.
