Beaux Arts, 8x8 oil painting by Stevie Denny

Beaux Arts
8x8 oil painting
on Raymar cotton panel
Unframed

I named this painting Beaux Arts after the fund-raising event at Scottsdale Artists' School last Saturday. It was a fun night and a successful event for the school.  I'm pleased to say that the two paintings I donated to the silent auction were sold.  I was on the Decoration Committee, and we had made sunflower arrangements for the tables; so we all took some home after the event. My sunflower arrangement died quickly, but I had taken lots of reference photos, and I painted this from one of those photos. Beaux Arts is an annual event, and you can see all the paintings in the auction here.

This painting is available through an online auction on Daily Paintworks.

Thank you for viewing my art.

Stacked, 12x4 oil painting by Stevie Denny

Stacked
12x4 oil painting
on deep-edge cotton canvas
ready to hang

I re-worked this painting from a previous post, and I'm much happier with it now.  I like the long, narrow format.  This is painted on a deep-edge 12x4 canvas, and the sides are painted black -- no need to frame.  I'll include wire on the back when I ship it, so it will be ready to hang.

This painting is available on Daily Paintworks.  Just click on the link to go to my page.

Basket of Happy, 8x8 oil painting by Stevie Denny

Basket of Happy
8x8 oil painting
on Centurion linen panel

I painted this from a photo I took last year, while taking Hedi Moran's class at Scottsdale Artist's School.  I like to paint just a portion of the photo for these small surfaces.

I started this painting in Krista Eaton's recent class at Scottsdale Artists' School, and I finally finished it today.  We had so much fun in that class -- I can't wait for the next one.

Purple Passion, 8x8 oil painting by Stevie Denny

Purple Passion
8x8 oil painting
on Raymar cotton panel, unframed

I don't know the name of these little purple flowers, but I love the color.  I painted this from a still life set-up in Krista Eaton's class this past week at Scottsdale Artists's School.  We had so much fun -- the time passed all too quickly.  If you like the color purple, Google the words "images of purple flowers" for some great eye candy.

Spring Bouquet, 12x12 oil painting by Stevie Denny

Spring Bouquet
12x12 oil painting
on Raymar cotton panel
unframed

I painted this from a still life set-up in a class I took.  I can't remember which class -- it was either with Hedi Moran or Joni Falk.  I added a few touches of my own as well.  This is a 12x12 painting on a Raymar cotton panel, so I recommend that it be displayed in a frame.

Happy Faces, 12x9 oil painting by Stevie Denny

Happy Faces
12x9 oil painting
on Raymar cotton panel

It rained here in Arizona today, so I stayed inside and finished a couple paintings that have been sitting in my studio for a few weeks.  This is one of them -- more of my sunflowers and daisies.

Blue, 12x9 oil painting by Stevie Denny

Blue
12x9 oil painting

When thinking of a name for this painting, I went with my first impression:  Blue!  I painted this from a still life setup.

Color Riot, 12x4 oil painting by Stevie Denny

Color Riot
12x4 oil painting
on deep-edge canvas

This isn't what I was going to paint today, but when I went to the market and saw all these bright colors, I grabbed the bouquet and decided to paint it instead.  These daisies are so brightly colored -- how do they do that?  It must be dye, because soon after I put the daisies in a vase,  the water turned pink!  This is painted on a deep-edge canvas, so no need to frame.

Daisy Explosion, 7x5 acrylic painting by Stevie Denny

Daisy Explosion
7x5 acrylic painting
on archival linen panel

I had several photos I had taken of still life set-ups last Spring at Scottsdale Artists' School.  I often use these photos for reference, and today I painted a "cropped" version of one of them.  It's just a piece of the entire set-up, but it was perfect for this small surface.  It's a happy painting.

This painting is available for purchase through Daily Paintworks.

Study for Commission Acrylic on Canvas Paper

This is a sketch/study for a commission I am painting for a dear friend.  Always good to do a study before the painting.  It gives you some idea of values and colors to use before the real painting.  The commission will be done in oil on gallery canvas.

Purple Cactus Flower, 6x6 oil painting by Stevie Denny

Purple Cactus Flower
6x6 oil painting on Raymar canvas panel

I often paint cactus flowers.  There are so many varieties and colors here in the southwestern desert.  I take as many photos as I can each spring when they bloom, and I painted this from one of my photos.  Thank you for viewing my art.
