"Sunflowers" Contemporary Still Life Oil Painting by Arizona Artist Mary Opat

"Sunflowers" Contemporary Still Life Oil Painting by
Arizona Artist Mary Opat

7" x 5" Oil on Panel

This small painting was fun to do.  I tried to push the
contrast a little to depict the sun shining on the sunflower
closest to me.  To view more of my original oil paintings
or to purchase, please follow this link to my web site

Sunflowers, Contemporary Floral Paintings by Arizona Artist Amy Whitehouse

12" x 16" Oil, $225

Unruly sunflowers bursting out of a tall vase,
these have remained a favorite subject for me.
There's nothing dainty about a big 'ole sunflower
with those thick stalks and wild huge leaves.
They seem to inspire cheer in most everyone.

Painterly Art-Sunflowers-by Li Mahalik

Oil on gessoed masonite, 6"x6"

Sunflowers

Today is one
Of those days, again
When no one is

Around him
To show him what love is

He looks up
With sun-filled eyes

His hearts turns
Into sunflowers

Even if he no longer can see
He knows where

The sun is
His flowers will let him know

©Li Mahalik

When my friends and I were busying painting a water jug still life, husband Mark came in with a bunch of sunflowers. I dropped everything and quickly painted them. I was in awe of the beauty. But I didn't quite capture the leaves. A few days later, I had to invent the leaves. They are fuzzy now as if in dreams.
