While I was visiting my son recently, Phantom showed up for breakfast at 6:00am. Phantom is not their cat, but apparently has adopted my son's family. He really lives across the street, but he likes my son's house better. I painted this from a photo I took of Phantom in the early morning light. This painting is available on Daily Paintworks. Big news!!! I won Best in Show with this painting at the Gilbert AZ Constitution Celebration. I wanted to show the emotional relationship between soldier and dog. I was given permission to use a photograph on Kevin Hanrahan's web site. Please visit his site and read about these amazing teams. He gives updates on deployed teams and their experiences. I don't think most of us understand the trust that has develop between these heroic partners.
The Best in Show prize was $250. I am donating 100% to US War Dog Assoc. If anyone would like a print of this painting or the original, please contact me. Also, 100% of the sales of prints or the original will go to the same organization. Not sure of the print prices yet. Will keep you informed.
I entered this same painting in the Gilbert Visual Art League February 2014 Show. I won the People's Choice Award. I am thrilled with the response.
Cardinal Rulesa
Binary Birds painting; the title of the work is reflected in
ASCII Binary Code in the background. This artwork is
created digitally, meaning a print is its final fixed form. As
such all prints made of this image are original artwork, in
the same manner as a photograph, or print made from an engraving, is considered original artwork. It
can be reproduced in 8x10 inch, 16x20 inch or in a canvas print
24x32 inch. Of course other sizes and substrates are possible.
Each image is signed by the artist after creation, and the edition
noted in the margin of the print. The artwork depicts a roller derby cardinal hip checking a raven
skater, while a bald eagle referee cries fowl.
